The Supply Chain Committee is set to have a busy autumn with a rich and varied programme. From webinars and workshops on advancing intermodality, to the ChemTech Synergy 2024 conference with Agoria, we are bringing together industry leaders, policymakers, and technology experts to explore how innovation can propel the chemical sector forward. Join us at these events, and don’t miss the EPCA 58th Annual Meeting in Berlin, where we’ll discuss Europe’s role in the global supply chain and the critical changes needed to stay ahead!
EPCA Intermodal Transportation Network
EPCA’s Intermodal Transport Network is gearing up for an exciting series of initiatives to drive actionable progress in the uptake of intermodality in Europe. This autumn, we will host a hands-on webinar, focusing on practical steps to advance intermodal transport solutions.
Meanwhile, Deloitte is reaching out to participants from our first workshop for follow-up interviews to evaluate their progress with the action plan. Your feedback on progress, challenges and lessons learned is crucial in identifying ongoing roadblocks and shaping our next steps, and so we encourage you to participate fully and reach out with your input to help direct our work.
Looking ahead, we are planning an in-person workshop for early February 2025. We welcome your suggestions on key focus areas as we prepare for this event. More details, including dates, will be shared soon.
As a reminder, you can find the outcome documents of the April workshop below:
1. A report (20240523 EPCA Conference Report Out.pdf): containing the key slides of the workshop accompanied by an executive summary. The document is structured like the workshop (keynote, workshop results, action plan and key contacts)
2. An excel file (20240521 Template Plan Intermodal Shift Report Out): containing the template action plans for Shippers, LSPs and Operators and the challenges identified and accompanying solution categories

Creating a Business Case for Sustainability
Another focus area of the Supply Chain Programme Committee is how technology and digitisation can support sustainability efforts. In particular, the group is working with Agoria, the Belgian federation for the technology industry on a conference called ChemTech Synergy 2024. The general theme is Bridging the Chemical and Technology Industries to advance Sustainability and Competitiveness, and the focus will be on exploring how technology can help the chemical industry achieve its energy transition goals while maintaining global competitiveness. Speakers will include high-profile leaders from the chemical sector, technology incubators, EU policymakers, and other senior industry figures.
