The Talent and Leadership Committee (formerly known as the Talents of Today, Leaders of Tomorrow or TTLT) has had a productive year, successfully setting up its work plan for the coming years with a focus on talent attraction and leadership. This committee works actively to support EPCA’s vision of attracting and retaining top talent to build a smart, resilient, sustainable, and inclusive petrochemical industry. Key achievements include the STEM survey run over the summer of 2024, as well as the recently-launched ESG webinar series. Looking ahead, the committee is introducing a third branch dedicated to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), further enhancing our commitment to fostering a diverse and talented workforce.
Talent Attraction Subgroup survey outcomes
Over the summer of 2024, the Talent Attraction Subgroup ran a survey looking into efforts already being made by companies in the Petrochemical industry to attract Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) talent (what works/what doesn't), as well as to identify barriers to attracting these profiles, and to identify best practices to manage these barriers. The group is now finalising a report with the findings, and hopes to use these findings to plan initiatives to inspire and equip young people with the skills, knowledge and passion to pursue STEM education and careers, ultimately fostering a diverse and talented workforce for the petrochemical industry. Keep your eyes peeled for the final report which will be coming soon!
Leadership Subgroup
This subgroup connects Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles to leadership, emphasizing ESG reporting requirements. First webinars results:

DARE TO JUMP: Emerging trends in sustainable performance in times of disruption
During the Talent Session at the EPCA 58th Annual Meeting, pioneer in wingsuit flying and base-jumping, performance psychologist and author, Cedric Dumont, shared his insights into how major organizations worldwide can grow leaders at all levels by doing things differently, showing that performance comes from purpose, passion and presence.
With a compelling mix of spectacular video footage and personal experience as an adventurer and high performance psychologist he demonstrated that skills such as dealing with emotions like fear are very transferable to any kind of environment and most of the time, what lies between us and our dreams is that same fear.
