In recent months the Talents of Today, Leaders of Tomorrow (TTLT) Committee has been working on redefining itself. It now operates across three key pillars: Inspiring the Next Generation, Building Tomorrow's Leaders, and Fostering Inclusion and Belonging. These priorities are being turned into a clear programme of initiatives - including a STEM Challenge to understand how young talent views the industry and where they believe it can improve, leadership development guides, and a dedicated focus on the capabilities the industry will need following this period of transformation.
Collaboration with external partners will also continue to grow, ensuring the Committee reflects the needs of a rapidly evolving workforce and a more competitive labour market.
Below you will find highlights of some of our work over the last quarter.
NEW PUBLICATION: The leadership capability gap in your industry
What makes the difference between a chemical organisation that navigates disruption effectively and one that doesn't? Increasingly, the answer is leadership.
EPCA's TTLT has just published The New Leadership Imperative, a study developed in partnership with Roland Berger that maps the leadership capabilities the chemical industry needs most - and where organizations are falling furthest behind.
The study is grounded in interviews with senior leaders across the European chemical industry and an analysis of more than 22,000 leadership job postings globally. The findings are clear: leadership expectations in the industry are rising faster than the capabilities to meet them. The gaps are structural, and revolve around: empowering teams to act, communicating with clarity and impact, and developing the digital fluency that leadership credibility now requires.
The publication includes both a full research report and a practical toolkit with concrete guidance on upskilling leaders and adapting operating models.
Whether you are investing in leadership development programs, thinking about succession, working to attract the next generation of talent, or navigating the intersection of transformation and sustained operational pressure - this research directly reflects the challenges and priorities you face every day.
EPCA’s 2025 DEI Survey: Follow up webinar
In case you missed it, last year the TTLT partnered with Women in Logistics to re-run its “Why Diversity Matters” survey to track and compare D&I progress achieved and recurring challenges. The findings suggest that, although diversity and inclusion remain critical priorities, progress has stagnated. Many respondents report persistent challenges - such as limited gender representation in technical and leadership roles, difficulty recruiting younger talent, and lingering gaps in inclusion practices. At the same time, the survey also highlights growing awareness among companies of the need for concrete DEI action: several firms already invest in inclusive hiring, training, mentoring, career-path transparency and outreach to underrepresented groups. The full report makes clear that advancing DEI in petrochemicals requires sustained commitment, structured programmes, and collaboration across companies.
To support our members in these challenges, EPCA and Women in Logistics will join forces and give a joint webinar on 19 June 2026 (14:00 CEST) to share their findings and take the conversation further.

New TTLT Member
We are delighted to welcome Cecilia García Espiña, Project Manager Dry-Bulk at Bertschi, to the TTLT Committee.
The TTLT is currently composed of 14 members representing petrochemical producers, LSPs, distributors, digital companies and peer sectorial associations - and is coordinated by Lydia Pernal-Stoddart.
Get Involved - Help Shape the Industry’s Future!
The industry faces a decisive decade: in addition to its current challenges, a significant share of the workforce will be eligible for retirement in the coming years, competition for STEM talent is intensifying, and the green and digital transitions are reshaping the skills and leadership capabilities the sector needs. The TTLT brings member companies together to tackle these challenges collectively - sharing knowledge, building practical tools, and ensuring no member faces the future of talent alone.
Whether you’re interested in STEM talent attraction, leadership development or DEI, there’s a place for you in the TTLT! Together, we can drive meaningful change and ensure the petrochemical industry remains at the forefront of innovation, sustainability, and inclusivity.
